Diagnosis

Recent research has found that the average wait for a diagnosis in children is over three years. This often leads to a delay in accessing treatment and learning the strategies which will enable a young person with autism to cope with life’s stresses.

This puts huge pressure on families and can lead to anxiety problems and depression. There is a significant knock on effect to mental health services in the NHS and an impact on the workload of GPs.

The National Autistic Society, as part of their Campaign for Change, has written an open letter to the Government and are looking for as many people to sign it as possible.

We can all help to make the lives of people with autism better. If you want to join their campaign, there is a link to the letter here.
